The Intuitive Human

Hey Everyone,

Happy August. HOW did we ever get here so quickly?!

I've been thinking a lot about the importance that intuition plays in bodywork and acupressure sessions, especially when working with animals. From my perspective, it is extremely important in all aspects of life but for whatever reason, our modern world tends to ignore this important gift that we all naturally possess. It is often called “woo-woo” and discredited.

Animals, especially wild animals, depend upon their connections to the unseen world of connection, electromagnetism and intuition in order to survive and it is accepted as normal. Yet, humans, not-so-much.

Dr. Dean Radin, PHD, researcher, editor, and author in the field of parapsychology has spent a lifetime working with major universities and the US government studying these phenomena. In a recent interview with Joe Rogan, the interview is long, but very interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Uk0_1yqdJo, Dean discussed a study conducted at the Institute of Noetic Sciences regarding highly intuitive people.

The simplified version of this study states that research suggests highly intuitive individuals may possess "normal" DNA, while less intuitive people carry a genetic variation that acts as a filter to dampen psychic sensitivity. This finding indicates that intuition may not be associated with a special gene, but rather the lack of it being linked to a genetic mutation that turns down the brain's natural sensitivity.

In further discussion, the conversation disclosed that this mutation seemed to be more prevalent in groups of people whose ancestry came from geographical regions that were highly affected by hierocracy (think inquisition and witch trials). The question is whether the mutation may have developed as a survival mechanism via epigenetics. Wow - that was a big eye opener for me.

Even in modern times, highly intuitive people who have been labeled as “woo-woo” or told they have over developed imaginations and are too sensitive have learned to hide their skills in order to fit in or feel safe in social groups and societies that continue to shun or ridicule them. As someone who is very familiar with this road and who has found my way through the sometimes heart-breaking scorn and self-doubt that came with it, I have such a strong passion to encourage and inspire others to embrace their natural and powerful intuitive gifts.

One of my favorite parts of teaching our Practitioner Courses is supporting students through the process of unfolding their intuitive abilities and feeling into the unseen world of electromagnetism and connection. It is really amazing how many times I hear, “this is the first time I have felt 'seen' and not 'weird'. Animals are such beautiful and patient facilitators in our intuitive unfolding and they are magnificent validators when we let go and trust it. This is the ART piece of what we call the ART & SCIENCE of Animal Bodywork!

I hope you have a most special week ahead,

Take care,

Kim

🪶 Sunday Thoughts with Kim

Welcome to Sunday Thoughts with Kim—a quiet place to pause, reflect, and reconnect. Each Sunday, I'll share stories, insights, and inspiration drawn from animals, nature, science, touch, and the beautiful journey of living with greater presence and purpose. Some weeks we'll explore equine and animal wellness and bodywork. Other weeks we'll wander through the wisdom of the natural world, the lessons our animals teach us, or the gentle reminders that help us return to ourselves. Whether you're here through SchoolAIT, The Soul in My Hand, or simply because you love horses and lifelong learning, my hope is that these weekly reflections encourage you to observe more deeply, live more intentionally, and discover the extraordinary in the everyday. Thank you for spending a few moments of your Sunday with me. With gratitude, Kim 🪶
